ATKV Hartenbos museum

The exhibitions in the ATKV Hartenbos museum reflect upon the Great Trek. Explore the lifestyle of the 1838 Voortrekkers and experience the Symbolic Oxwagon Trek of 1938. The latest addition to the museum is the Hartenbos room, which depicts the history of the town.

ATKV hiking trail

The unique Hartenbos hiking trail along the beach consists of marble slabs containing extracts from the work of 16 poets from various periods of the past century’s Afrikaans poetic art. All the poems are about the sea or reflect some aspect of South Africa’s maritime history and experiences. A poetic experience indeed!
